Really. And 2011 has been our best year yet: 16 kitchens! By comparison, in a very informal survey of my kitchen design peers, the typical annual project load is roughly 6-8 kitchens – 10 in a very busy year.

No wonder I haven’t been posting regularly to the blog. Or tweeting. But I have been designing & installing kitchens for a lot of people. Hands on, direct service. Which takes time & focus. & my clients really appreciate it. In fact, here’s a note one of them sent us!

When it comes to new modern design, probably see more absolute than it must be the modern chair. One might think then it would be a little tired of seeing all these chairs, but on the contrary, we are so glad to see the usual designs new president, especially when they are as beautiful as you are looking for today. Rocking Chair is the new Sway by Markus Krauss. When we think of the typical swing, you probably think about it with a single purpose or a particular way of sitting on it. This is not true of the rocking chair Sway, which can be used in a number of different ways.

The Kajen Bench For Public Spaces by Thomas Bernstrand

Swedish designer Thomas Bernstrand has created a public bench Kajen for manufacturers based in Stockholm, Nola. This is one of the first park bench along with pedestal design, inviting them to sit to put their feet, or just sit back and relax. Casual luxury rear bench makes a unique addition to any public space.

U.S. furniture factory orders climb 11% in October

HIGH POINT — Furniture factory orders in October were 11% above October 2010, according to the latest survey of manufacturers and distributors by the accounting firm Smith Leonard.

 

The October increase came on the heels of a 12% jump in September and a 9% increase in August.

For the first 10 months of 2011, orders were 7% ahead of the same period in 2010, according to the survey.

In the firm’s monthly Furniture Insights newsletter, managing partner Ken Smith noted that the October increase marked the seventh time in eight months that new orders were up, compared with the same month a year ago.

Insulating: Installing insulation is a great cold-weather project that will pay you back in the form of lower heating and air conditioning bills. The easiest place to install insulation is in the attic where you have easy access to the floor and ceiling. You can also install expandable foam insulation around doors and light switches to prevent drafts.
