What are kitchen surfaces?
A continuous countertop work surface used to cover an assembled unit cabinetry became popular in the Western kitchens in the early 20th century. However, Johnny Grey displayed a kitchen design style which later became popular as the unfitted kitchen, where the countertop is either mounted on to discrete base support structures or is detached. The material choice for the kitchen countertops were made based on the considerations of the following factors, cost, appearance, hygenics, functionality and durability.
The kitchen countertops or work surfaces are usually about 25 inches from back to front after the installation into the kitchen. These have a subtle extension on the front which is also called the leading surface which makes sure that the base cabinet faces remain protected. The thickness of the material which is used usually depends on the material itself and the height from the floor usually depends on the person’s lifestyle and usage patterns. These often also have provisions which will ensure that you will be able to install cooktops, ranges, stoves or cookers, sinks or other accessories such as cutting boards, integrated drain boards and dispensers.
There are many materials which area popular choice for the kitchen surfaces, but one of the most common and popular one is quartz. Kitchen work surfaces made from quartz are highly durable owing to the high strength of the mineral quartz. The mineral is also naturally scratch resistant and hence can withstand most loads which are applied on a kitchen work surfaces. Kitchen work surfaces made from quartz also have the additional benefit of being available in a hoard of color, a luxury which is not available with normal granite counter tops. The price of these however is not higher than that of the granite counter tops and is nearly comparable.
