Miami is of course very known for its beautiful beaches, sun-kissed beauties in bikinis, killer nightclubs and let’s not forget the deadly hurricanes! Because of this most of the homes on Miami Beach are already equipped with comfort built storm windows. Homes which are not built with some sort of storm windows or at least storm shutters in Florida are very rare. If in fact you do purchase a home that does not have any type of storm protection, it would be a great idea to find a company that installs them and have them put in right away.

The exclusive homes in Miami are normally built with things like hurricanes in mind but there is still a high chance that there may be some sort of damage as a result of a hurricane, at one point or another. It is also a very good idea to make sure you purchase an excellent home owners policy that includes coverage for acts of God and floods, as well as storms. This will ensure that if your new home is hit by a storm and damaged that at least you will get some sort of compensation and money with which to make repairs.

There was a big problem in the past with major insurance companies pulling out of South Florida as a result of a year in which 4 major hurricanes came back to back, causing millions of dollars of damage. After that some of the companies that remained did make it a requirement to have fully functioning storm windows on your home before they would even consider covering the home. This made the storm window industry quite popular in the state, as I am sure it still is today. There are people who prefer to build their own storm windows but they must be able to pass an inspection performed by the insurance company.
